How to Choose a Mini Excavator: A Practical Guide to FangSheng Models

news/how-to-choose-a-mini-excavator: Explore Fangsheng equipment for material handling, earthmoving, compaction and loading. Find the right starting point for your next project.

BUYING GUIDE

Compare site access, digging depth, attachments and transport requirements using FangSheng mini excavator models and FC-ME08 reference specifications.

FangSheng ·

Choosing a mini excavator starts with the job: how the machine will enter the site, how deep it needs to dig, and where the excavated material will go. These requirements provide a useful basis for comparing machines before discussing price.

The FangSheng excavator range includes models such as FC-ME08, FC-ME16, FC-ME18, FC-ME22, FC-ME25 and FC-ME35. To narrow down the options, compare the proposed configuration against the following requirements.

1. Measure Access Before Comparing Digging Performance

For garden work, courtyard projects and renovation sites, the entrance may determine which machine can be used.

Measure the narrowest gate or passage, overhead clearance and the space available to turn. Include obstacles such as walls, steps and existing structures. Ask for the machine’s overall width, height and transport dimensions, then check the space needed during operation.

A machine that passes through the gate still needs room for the boom, bucket and upper structure to move.

2. Match Digging Depth to the Actual Task

For drainage trenches, irrigation work or small foundation excavations, specify the required depth and width. Also explain where the machine will stand and where it must place the spoil.

The FangSheng FC-ME08 provides a starting point for this comparison. Its published reference configuration lists:

FC-ME08 reference specifications
SpecificationFC-ME08 reference configuration
EngineKOOP 192F
Rated power / speed7.6 kW / 3,000 rpm
Maximum digging depth1,300 mm
Maximum digging height2,350 mm
Maximum unloading height1,600 mm
Bucket digging force6.5 kN

These measurements describe different parts of the working envelope. Digging depth indicates how far the machine can excavate below its reference ground level. Unloading height helps assess where material can be discharged.

For a task requiring excavation deeper than 1,300 mm, the listed FC-ME08 configuration would not meet the depth requirement. Even for shallower work, check reach, machine positioning and the full working-range drawing before making a selection.

3. Compare Other Models Using the Same Specification List

Buyers considering the FC-ME18, FC-ME25 or FC-ME35 should request a configuration sheet for each shortlisted machine.

Use the same comparison fields:

  • Operating weight and overall dimensions.
  • Maximum digging depth and reach.
  • Unloading height.
  • Bucket capacity and digging force.
  • Engine model and rated power.
  • Auxiliary hydraulic flow and pressure.
  • Track configuration and transport requirements.

Do not infer operating weight or digging capability from the model number alone. Comparing complete specification sheets makes it easier to identify which machine meets the job requirements.

4. Describe the Material and Daily Workload

A machine used occasionally to move loose garden soil faces a different workload from one used throughout the day for trenching.

Tell FangSheng what material you expect to excavate, whether the ground is wet or firm, and how many hours the machine will work each day. Include the approximate trench length or volume of material where possible.

This information helps frame the discussion around digging performance, bucket choice and maintenance requirements. Engine power alone does not establish how much work a machine will complete on your site.

5. Confirm Attachments Before Ordering

If your work requires an auger, breaker or a different bucket, include that requirement in the initial inquiry.

Ask whether the proposed machine supports the attachment, and confirm the mounting arrangement, hydraulic flow, pressure and any return-line requirements. The quotation should identify which attachments, hoses and couplings are included.

Attachment compatibility must be checked for the selected configuration; a photograph of a similar machine is not enough to confirm the fit.

6. Include Transport and Maintenance in the Decision

For contractors moving between sites, transport arrangements are part of equipment selection.

Request the operating weight and transport dimensions with the supplied attachments. Compare these figures with the rated capacity and dimensions of the intended transport equipment.

Before ordering, also ask for maintenance instructions, service access information and replacement-part identification. Confirm warranty coverage and cost responsibilities in writing through FangSheng Service & Support.

What to Send for a Model Recommendation

A useful inquiry can be short, provided it contains the working requirements:

We need a mini excavator for [application]. Our narrowest entrance is [width], and the required digging depth is [depth]. The ground is [soil and site conditions], and the expected workload is [hours per day]. We need [bucket or attachments]. Please recommend a suitable configuration and provide its specifications, transport dimensions and quotation.

Site photographs or a simple layout can make the requirements easier to understand.

Browse the FangSheng excavator models and contact FangSheng with your measurements to discuss a suitable configuration.

Specifications quoted above are taken from the FC-ME08 reference information currently published on the FangSheng website. Confirm the final machine configuration and operating limits in the written quotation and supplied documentation.
